The Straight-Leg Deadlift is a dynamic multi-joint movement that builds strength in the lower body as well as the back, shoulders, and core, making it a great total-body exercise.
Even with good intentions, there are many things that can go awry when attempting a deadlift. This quick video is a basic guide on how to safely perform a Dumbbell Deadlift.
Note: Using dumbbells, as opposed to a barbell, allows for greater range of motion, as well as the ability to adjust hand position (neutral, prone, supine, or somewhere in between) to accommodate for shoulder limitations or compensations.
As always, be sure to work within YOUR pain free range and meet your body where it is.
