Moderation is a tricky thing… especially when it pertains to food. In order to maintain a healthy weight, is it absolutely necessary to eliminate certain foods that we LOVE? At the same time, is ignoring our cravings a recipe for a disastrous binge?
What would happen if we allowed ourselves a cheat meal each week?
I’ve been working with a client for the past 8 months who has now lost almost 20 pounds. He’s been consistent with his workouts and more importantly he’s found moderation in his diet. While he has eliminated pastas and sugary drinks (things he can live without), he does allow himself a doughnut every Friday as his “cheat”.
Cheats are scheduled meals that include indulgent foods that wouldn’t ordinarily be permitted on a diet. Planning for your cheat meal each week may actually help you in resisting temptations and allow the body to find moderation in your diet.
